Genetic Engineering Debate Preparation

Hi guys,

Consider: The caption for the picture to the left says: "Miracles of Genetic Engineering." What kind of commentary do you think the picture is making? How does it compare to the message given by the picture at the bottom of this post?

As you know, tomorrow we are scheduled to have our last debate. The topic of the debate will be related to genetic engineering, which has been discussed in chapters 9 and 10 of your textbook.

To prepare for the debate, I'd like you to consider both the arguments and counterarguments for the topic of genetic engineering. To prepare, you should....

1. Do the online listening exercise for chapter 10. See the next blog post for directions.

2. Review the notes you took for chapters 9 & 10 and the notes you took from chapters 9 & 10 online listening assisgments.

3. Re-Listen to the lecture in chapter 10 (Recounting of the Lecture- Ch 10B) on the LRC website. Remember, you need to be on campus to listen.

4. Read pp. 122-123 from your textbook. It's an article called "DNA May Spawn a New Generation of Computers"
