Power Point Homework Assignment

Directions: Download the file called BadTalk.ppt from the below URL. The Power Point is about how to give a bad presentation. It is meant to be sarcastic or ironic.

Please jot down on paper all of the “bad” things the presenter has done in his Power Point. Some slides have more than one problem. Bring your list to class on Tuesday.

Was this pres held in a night club or what? its extremey hilarious there are many inappropriate things like
1) the language which was used.
2) the spilling mistakes.
3) the font size.
4) the carelesness about the audience according to the words writen.
5)no numbers on the pages.
and most annoying is that I was about to have a heart attack when I heard the bomb's sound hehehehe! oh lord!

Hello!!

That Power Point presentation was horrible!! I wonder who can do so messy job. There was a lot of spelling mistakes, different format of letters, awful color and funny animation.
I am not an expert in Power Point, but I don't think I would be able to do something so bad!! hahahaha

Hello everyone...
I don't wanna make who ever made this power point down and also I don't wanna be harsh on him either, like everybody else here. I think he didn't work hard on his presentation; but being in level 7, I still can get the message he is trying to send. I think we shouldn't focus on this guy's mistakes like the spilling mistakes, what kind of language did he use, the font size and how clear he was. I think we should focus on the message he is trying to pass to us. That way we will get more knowledge other than to talk about his nigative side of the presentation.

I am so sorry that I could not watch this file. I thought I could open it. However, Kohei and I were working on preparing for tomorrow's presentation at elementary school. When I tried to open it, it was already 1:30am....
Therefore, I will do it tomorrow at library. However, Kohei and I did good preparation! so I will bring some visual aids that we made tomorrow. so please forgive me!!! Leah sorry....

I found some problems, which are punctuations, typing, chosing the small size of the words, grammar problems, using too many bright colors, and so on. To sum up. there are some problems not only the organization of the presentation, but also basic English. I am sort of worried about making Power Point because I don't see any advantages to use the technology. Today, I have done a great presentation to use posters. I think we don't need to focus on only Power Point due to the well-done presentation.

Hi Ahmed,

It's very nice of you to want to look on the bright side. Also, you're right, the focus should be on the presenter's message; however, as some of your classmates pointed out, the design of this Power Point DISTRACTS from the presenter's message, and that is not a good thing. Remember what Sandy Hanson from Communication Studies told us: The idea behind Power Point or any other visual aid is to "enhance, support or clarify" your message-- not distract from it.

So, try your analysis again...

Hi Kohei,

You wrote:

I think you're right. Just because you use Power Point or some other technology does not mean that you have an effective presentation. However, I do think that if used properly Power Point can be a very useful tool which can greatly enhance lengthy presentations, such as the one you'll be making next week or like presentations you'll be making in university courses once you leave ELTI.

Since this has been the only speech that I have required a visual aid for, I think asking you to use Power Point is a fair request because it is a tool that you will very likely have to use outside my class in the future.

Pass by my office if you need help with your slides. OK?

CU
Leah

hello..
it is not power-point..-_-;
he used only text to explain. Actually, i can accept some technical problems but this power-point resource did not accomplish purpose as visual aid. audience might not understand what fuction this power-point has. this power-point doesn't do any good for help his presentation.
